Basic Foundation Piecing – 3 – 4 hours
Mug Rug class
If you’ve wanted to learn to paper piece but feel you aren’t ready for a quilt project just yet, this class is for you.
Join David Gilleland as he teaches you how to foundation/paper piece using his mug rug patterns.
For this class you can choose from the following mug rug patterns:
- Twisted Log Cabin
- Curved Log Cabin
- Log Cabin
In the class you will learn the basics of foundation/paper piecing, how to use the add-a-quarter ruler to create seam allowances, and how to stitch in the ditch once you’ve pieced the mug rug.
Skill Level: novice/beginner
Beginner Foundation Piecing – 6 – 9 hours
Star Voyage Quilt 40″ x 40″
Have you ever wanted to learn paper piecing but had no idea where to begin? Have you looked at paper pieced quilts and thought, “I can’t do that”?
Join David Gilleland and learn how easy and fun it is to create beautiful paper pieced blocks and quilts. This class will open up a new quilting arena in your life and give you a solid foundation to explore the wonderful world of paper piecing.
Rather than teach you just 1 block like most beginning paper piecing classes, David has designed a 40×40 quilt named Star Voyage that will teach you all the basics of paper piecing while you create a beautiful quilt!Upon completion of the class and the quilt, you will have achieved a foundation of the basic concepts and use of the tools required and be prepared for more advanced projects. If you need more time or assistance, David will be at the shop until 5pm. You are welcome to stay and continue working on any unfinished blocks.

Intermediate Foundation Piecing – 3 full days (approx 6 hours per day)
Malachite Quilt – 80″ x 80″
Join David Gilleland for this intermediate level foundation/paper piecing 2-day workshop utilizing another of his original designs! Malachite was designed using Batik Textiles Spring 2017, Memos from Athena fabric line and was featured at Spring Quilt Market.
You will learn how to get perfect points and seams when multiple blocks intersect at one point. This class will leave you feeling confident handling foundation patterns with multiple fabrics and seams.
Note: A basic knowledge of foundation piecing and David’s techniques is required for this class, which can be learned at the Beginner Paper Piecing class.
